Executive Summary: | During a normal take off runway 04R, on a flight from EKCH to Singapore (WSSS), airport ground personnel observed a smoke of powder and blast of debris from the LH engine just at lift-off. ATC informed the flight crew about the observations and (P.I.C) Pilot in Command decided to return to EKCH. Upon the incident and on the remaining flight, the only discrepancies on the LH engine parameters were an intermittent blanked EGT indication. After dumping fuel (70000 KGS), the aircraft landed at time 1044 with both engines operative, (LH engine precautionary set to idle) and without use of reverse thrust on that same engine. |
